El Periodismo Projecto
Reflection
In this project, we were required to read different articles in Spanish and English about the country our group chose. Then we had to write our own articles and publish a newspaper that compiled the articles we wrote.
I was able to connect to this project because I really enjoy watching soccer. Soccer is huge in Argentina, so it was really easy to write about soccer. I really enjoyed being able to do this. My best moment in this project was learning about how truly crazy Argentinians are about soccer.
This project was difficult because I am not the best at speaking Spanish, but I'm okay at translating written English to Spanish, so it didn't get too far in my way. Reading and understanding several different Spanish articles and news videos was the most difficult part of this project, as I have trouble comprehending Spanish at times.
I learned that as a Spanish speaker, I'm not that bad at conjugating and understanding the structure of the language, but I really need to improve on memorizing words, as my vocabulary is pretty small. I also learned that I am able to collaborate well with my classmates when working on a group project.
I feel like this project was very beneficial to my learning of Spanish. Learning about current events in Spanish speaking countries should be a part of any Spanish class. I am glad Janae made us do this project.

Dia de los Muertos
In this project, we learned all about Day of the Dead. Down in Mexico and other Central American countries, instead of mourning the death of lost loved ones, they celebrate their lives. This day is on November 1st. It is often mixed up with Halloween, although the two holidays have nothing to do with each other. We then celebrated the Day of the Dead by remembering our lost loved ones. We did this by writing about them in Spanish and making an art piece that represents.

Reflection
Through this project, I learned a ton about Day of the Dead. I learned that they celebrate the lives of those have passed away, and they do things that represent that person. For example, a person may cook something their mother may have made for dinner. The altar allowed me to remember all the great things about my deceased relatives. When a relative passes away, I try my best to think of all the happy memories with them instead of how much I'm going to miss them. I am most proud of my art piece. I found writing in Spanish and conjugating in the past and imperfect tense to be the most difficult.
